The emergent economic recession has made access to education even more difficult to the vast majority of financially underprivileged Filipinos. More and more students depend on assistance from the government, NGOs, private institutions and benevolent individuals for their education as the rate of unemployment increases every year. Schools are increasingly challenged to expand if not sustain resources for scholarships to accommodate the growing number of disadvantaged students applying for admission.

As a Catholic educational institution, La Consolacion College Bacolod upholds the value of compassion and provides every available educational opportunity to poor but deserving students with its wide array of scholarship grants and educational assistance. The school maintains a Scholarship Program which ensures the expansion and proper appropriation of resources so that scholarships are afforded to a greater number of beneficiaries every year.

Generally, the school appropriates budget from its annual institutional fund to sustain scholarships across all levels. The school however is basically dependent on tuition fees, which mean that the depleting number of students who can afford private education relatively poses an alarming threat to the sustainability of the program. More than ever, the school is challenged to expand its resources from both internal and external benefactors.

The Scholarship Program is taken charge by the Scholarship Coordinator (SC) who reports directly to the School President. The SC works with the sponsors of scholarship program and the admission committee which is composed of the VP for Academic Affairs and the Academic Team and other offices serving the admission.

The SC facilitates the recruitment, selection and promotion of scholars and implements the standards, policies and procedures. Occasionally, the SC meets with the scholarship benefactors and the Admission Committee for consultation and coordination.
